Seven Layer Dip

Now that football season has also arrived, this dip is the perfect addition to your Sunday afternoon.  Try it once and you’ll be hooked…

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 – 16 oz. can refried beans
  • 3 avocados
  • 1 lime
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 1 envelope of taco seasoning
  • 1 small can sliced black olives
  • 1 small can diced green chiles (or jalepenos)
  • 4 cups chopped plum tomatoes (approximately 6 medium sized tomatoes)
  • 2 cups grated cheddar cheese (or Mexican cheese mix)

HOW TO MAKE IT

THE LAYERS

  1. Spread the bottom of a 13 x 9 in. pan with the can of refried beans
  2. Mash 3 avocados with the lime juice (you can use a food processor or potato masher for this) – layer this on top of the refried beans
  3. Mix the 2 cups of sour cream with the envelope of taco seasoning – layer this on top of the avocados
  4. Sprinkle the black olives on top of sour cream…
  5. Sprinkle the green chiles/jalepenos next
  6. Pour the 4 cups of chopped plum tomatoes on top of everything
  7. Top it off with the grated cheese
  • Bake at 350°F for about 20 minutes (or until cheese melts and it looks bubbly)
  • For best results, let it sit for 10 minutes before serving
